Confined Spaces (Use only as a Refresher)

Duration: 35 Minutes

In a confined space a person might suffer from lack of oxygen or from other hazardous substances – a very dangerous place to work and one for which a person must have had formal training which includes being in such a place.  This course is to be used as a refresher as there is no substitute for the practical training.

Confined Spaces Course Content

1. What is a confined space and what might the hazards be? It also looks at dangers that may be specific to using any particular equipment or substances in such a space.
2. There are responsibilities for employees’ safety, from the employer’s point of view as well as the person involved. This includes providing such things as Emergency Rescue Plans and Risk Assessments and  Safe Systems of Work and Permits.
3. The last section covers what needs to be done before entering a confined space and the important checks that must be done, including atmosphere tests, purging and ventilation, isolation and lighting.  Finally, it looks at the PPE and RPE that might be needed

Test & Certificate

There will be one or two questions in between sections which are designed to reinforce learning and ensure maximum engagement but do not count towards the final test. This test usually has around 20 multiple choice questions and when passed, a printable certificate can be downloaded.
