Managing Contractors

If you don’t deal with your contractors correctly and their health and safety (or lack of it) is wanting – YOU can also be liable.  A recent Court case has seen a shop fined a vast amount for not having ensured that their roofing contractor was competent.

A contractor is any person who offers their skills and services to an organisation for a fee. Many businesses use contractors for a number of reasons, including building work, gaining an increased access to skills that the organisation doesn’t have and for increased flexibility.

However, when employing contractors it doesn’t come without its risks. Improper use or poor management of contractors can lead to injuries, additional costs, delays – and prosecutions.

This course looks at what you should do to ensure that you do not leave your organisation exposed.

Managing Contractors Course Content

1. Looking at what constitutes a contractor and the risks of using one.
2. We learn about the HSE’s 5 Step Plan to safely and effectively manage contractors safely and effectively.

Test & Certificate

There will be one or two questions in between sections which are designed to reinforce learning and ensure maximum engagement but do not count towards the final test. This test usually has around 20 multiple choice questions and when passed, a printable certificate can be downloaded.
