Infection Prevention and Control
Duration: 40 Minutes
All staff should work towards preventing the spread of infection at work and so our course explains exactly how the chain of infection works, how to break the chain to stop it spreading further and how important your own health and hygiene is when you work within the Care sector. The course will equip learners with the knowledge that is required to be put into practice in the workplace, where they can then do the ‘practical’ part of their training.
1 Infections in the Workplace
This section answers the questions: What are infections? Where do they come from? And who’s at risk?
It looks at bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi and how they should be treated.
2 The Chain of Infection
There is a clear route for an infection to take to get from one person to another. It’s known as the chain of infection and has 6 links. Breaking any ONE of these links prevents infection from spreading, so in this section, we look at what these links are and how to break them.
3 Best Hygiene Practices​
This section is about protecting yourself and protecting those around you by good personal hygiene and keeping things clean.
It includes set-by-step guides to handwashing, putting on PPE, clearing up blood and other body fluids and dealing with your own minor injuries e.g. cuts & nose-bleeds.
4 Common Infections
This section looks at the most common infections in the UK, including their symptoms and what to do to protect yourself against them.
5 Your responsibilities
The final section looks at who is responsible for certain aspects of health and safety at work. Although everyone is responsible for maintaining good personal hygiene.
Test & Certificate
There will be one or two questions in between sections which are designed to reinforce learning and ensure maximum engagement but do not count towards the final test. This test usually has around 20 multiple choice questions and when passed, a printable certificate can be downloaded.

Having your own Learning Management System allows you complete control over your e-learning and for larger orders we can provide you with your own platform, free-of-charge.
If you wish to, you can order the number of credits that you first want (10 credits = one course for one person) and when you check out, tell us that you want a new LMS – which we would suggest you should do if you want more than 15 courses.
To initiate your system we will need some information from you as to how you want your portal set up, so we will be in touch as soon as you order. We will then tailor the LMS, add the credits, send you a very comprehensive User Guide and launch your platform.
Whilst we don’t offer an actual training course on how to use the LMS, it is very simple to use and we are always here to help you should you require it.

Courses are purchased in blocks of 10 credits (10 credits = 1 course for one person). The cost of a course is therefore 10 times the price of a credit. VAT is payable on all purchases.
