1 Equality, diversity, inclusion and discrimination

It’s essential for everyone to recognise and value what makes people different. Everyone, regardless of their differences whether it is their abilities, disabilities, health, care needs, background or lifestyle, has the right to be included, respected and appreciated. This section looks at what is meant by terms such as ‘diversity’ ‘equality’ and ‘inclusion’, as well as labelling, stereotyping, discrimination, bullying & harassment.

2 Practical Application

Anyone is able to help reduce the chances of discrimination by working in ways that respect diversity and promote equality and inclusion in everything that happens in work by never making assumptions about what someone wants or how they want to be treated. This section covers person-centred care, legislation, reflective practice, code of conduct and information, advice & support.
