The Regard Partnership who have over 135 care services, employing 1,350 people across the country have outsourced their training department to Helmsman.
Tunbridge Wells Council signs up with Helmsman
In September, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council signed a contract for Helmsman Services to manage their Learning & Development function.

Meet the Team
Helmsman Services was formed in 1998 and today the core team consists of:
Tony Willson, Managing Director
Tony is an energetic business professional and entrepreneur having set up and run several businesses in his time. He worked with international training specialists, Dale Carnegie Training for 10 years and qualified as an instructor in most of their prestigious programmes. In 2000, he joined Lindsey who had been running the training management side of the business and they then formed the company. He is responsible for advising clients on 'people' related matters and has helped many companies with their approach to training and development, Investors in People accreditation and funding for training. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management, a qualified Investors in People adviser and a Member of the Institute of Directors.
Lindsey Willson, Operations Director
For many years Lindsey was a travel agent and IT trainer with various companies before starting the business in 1998, from an office at home with one client. Lindsey developed our unique software package strictly for the purpose of administering all aspects of training, from receipt of the needs through to evaluation. This software system is integrated with industry grant schemes, such as those of the CITB/Construction Skills and Skills for Care, for which we assist clients in grant claims and applications. Lindsey is responsible for all aspects of the company’s operations.
Nicky Garrett, Manager - OTM Services
Nicky is responsible for the Outsourced Training Management side of the company and, as such, she has an unrivalled knowledge of the training industry. Nicky has a background in administration and over the 5 years that she has worked for Helmsman, she has put her organisational skills to good use, to ensure that our systems are as effective as possible. Nicky has worked with many construction and house-building companies over this time and so her personal expertise is in having an in-depth knowledge of that industry.

Our Associates consist of a range of consultants, trainers and facilitators covering every aspect of our business. Every consultant, trainer or training supplier that we use undergoes a strict vetting procedure under our ISO9001 Quality Management System and every course is carefully evaluated to ensure that it meets our Clients' needs.
Our office back-up is we feel, second to none, as accuracy, attention to detail and fulfilling a client's needs are paramount in our company. We have been praised for our flexibility, immediate response, complaint handling (although luckily this doesn't happen too often!) and friendliness - and that is the way we want to be recognised , not just as another training company.
We also have Professional Indemnity Insurance up to £2 million, Public Liability up to £5 million and Employee Liability up to £10 million.
